Wetlands Institute - Watch our award-winning film, Secrets of the Salt Marsh, then join us for an interpretive walk through the wetlands!  Together we will travel along our elevated walkway, down the salt marsh trail, and out onto the dock overlooking Scotch Bonnet creek.  To fully experience the marsh, make sure to wear shoes that can get wet and muddy!

The Sandy Sprint is hosted by the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation in an effort to spread the word about our mission and raise funds to advance research.

Cape May Craft Shows feature dozens of local and regional artisans offering original artwork, jewelry, and handmade goods. This event is held rain-or-shine on the oceanfront promenade outside the Cape May Convention Hall from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free.

The race will be started at 11:00 AM, rain or shine, on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
An electrical storm or dangerous surf conditions will necessitate resetting the start time until later in the day.  If conditions do not improve, the swim will be cancelled.  Weather cancellations will be announced on the home page of the beach patrol's website.
The starting line for this box swim will be at the water's edge. Swimmers will swim out to the first turn buoy. After turning the buoy, they will swim parallel to the shore line. Upon reaching the second turn buoy, swimmers will turn toward the shore line and finish on the beach in front of the 44th Street beach patrol headquarters. The traditional starting line will be located at approximately 61st Street which means the swimmers will swim north. If extreme currents run north to south on race day, the starting line will be switched to 27th Street in an effort to have participants swim with the current.

The Murray Mile Ocean Classic and the Murray Mile Half  are challenging and unique swim events held in the clean and iconic Atlantic Ocean off the beautiful beaches of Avalon, New Jersey.

This is our 5th year hosting this iconic event! Swim the same course as the South Jersey lifeguards in the ocean on an out and back course. This is the only swim where you can do this on the east coast!
Avalon Beach Patrol will be the on the water safety team.

Proceeds go the Avalon Beach Patrol Alumni Association.
