Steam Thursday: Sharktooth Island-Challenge Island

We will dive into the magic of our book “Bridge to Sharktooth Island”. After a short excerpt we embark upon our own adventure! We discuss the challenge faced by engineers in building Sydney Harbour Bridge and the importance of strengthening it. We discover that triangles are the “strongest” shape and why the Truss bridge design is used. Our STEAM teams work to create slimey, shark-infested waters. The challenge will be to build a bridge that was at least 12 inches long and supported as much weight as possible. This activity is for ages 7 to 12. Attendees under 8 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
